The Mets issued David Wright a new protective helmet yesterday, and it looks ridiculous, It's way too large for his head he could hardly even run the bases with it, it looks like it was going to fall off any minute, In fact it did when he slid into second base it rolled into the outfield! I know David has just been hit in the head with a 94 mile an hour fastball less than two weeks ago and the Mets want to give him extra protection but this helmet has to go!
MLB want all the player to where this ridiculous helmet! Even the Mets announcers were making fun of it! Keith Hernandez sad it looked like the Martian in the "Space Balls" cartoon, but Gary Thorn hit it right on the head when he said it looked more like "The Great Kazoo" from the Flintstones.
David Wright is one of the real tough "hard nose" players in the game! I can't see him wearing this thing too long?? Because if he does and becomes the "Poster Boy" for this thing he is going to piss-off a lot of MLB players.
